Sitting in the Power

Quiet awareness · around 5 minutes, or as little as feels right

Spirit

A traditional Spiritualist practice of resting in your own presence. It is a reflective exercise, not a promise of spirit contact. Nothing needs to happen for this time to be worthwhile.

1.Arrive in your body

Sit comfortably with your feet supported and your hands resting. Let your eyes close only if that feels safe. Notice the chair beneath you and three sounds in the room. Breathe naturally; there is no need to hold your breath or change its depth.

2.Rest in your own presence

Bring attention to the space around your heart. If it helps, imagine a soft, steady light there. In Spiritualist practice, sitting in the power means resting in spiritual awareness rather than chasing messages. Your attention may wander. Simply return to the feeling of being here.

3.Allow quiet awareness

Stay with this stillness for a few comfortable minutes. You might silently say, ‘I welcome peace, and I remain grounded in myself.’ Let thoughts and images pass without turning them into a reading. Feeling nothing unusual is completely fine. There is nothing you must receive or prove.

4.Return gently

Feel your feet again, move your fingers and look around the room. Name something you can see, then take a sip of water. Consider one word for how you feel now. You can stop at any time; if the practice makes you uneasy, choose ordinary grounding or a gentle walk instead.
